I was at the hair dresser today. Pat Watson and I were visiting about my family, the Courtneys. She knew most of my brothers and sisters. She remembered my parents. My mom and dad loved going to high school basketball games. In fact, when I was in high school, we would drive all over the state going to the games. That's when I learned to drive - night drives to Burns, Lakeview. Go Buffs, Class of '61!
Pat recalled that my parents would come in to the gym and head for the same seats they always sat in, climbing up a few bleachers. She said sometimes some of the younger people would help them alongs. I wish I could have seen (and heard this), she said sometimes people would even clap their hands when the folks found their chosen seats!+
I told Pat I went to the doctor's office last year for a broken toe. I couldn't see my regular doctor at Indian Health Service so I went to one I had never seen before. He sent me in to x-ray (yes, it was fractured). When I returned he was smiling and said he knew I looked familiar but he didn't know me. He looked in my file, found out I was one of the Courtneys and said that's why I look familiar! There are 7 of us; I guess we all look alike. Anyway, I enjoy talking about my parents and other family members from people I didn't even know, knew them.
